“The Real You” Poem

The Real You

By: Ashley O’Hare

Gotta look like a model

Gotta look just like a doll

Gotta look unreal–

but be authentic all the while.

Don’t date around too much,

but don’t be such a prude.

Show some more skin,

but don’t look too nude.

Never let them see your bare face

Never show your undone hair

Never let your polish chip–

your clothes should never tear.

If you’re going to cry,

then you better cry pretty.

No one wants to see beyond the facade–

the real you is too gritty.
