“Double Life” Poem

Double Life

By: Ashley O’Hare

I live in two worlds.

The world in which I eat and breathe

is becoming exceedingly less important.

The world of likes

and paid promotions

and stunning filters

is the one that truly matters.

If you don’t have a following,

then what use is a sense of humor?

If the picture of last night’s dinner

reached less than millions—

was it even worth the money?

If a photo of my face

gets lost in the swarm—

am I even worth  the space

I take up in my physical form?
