10 Things About Me
I have had this blog for a few years now, but I have not mentioned a lot about me personally. Since I have a goal of posting on this website more regularly, I thought it was about time for me to open up a bit.
1. I still can’t ride a bike
I had a bike with training wheels when I was young, which I loved to ride around my driveway and neighborhood. However, I never did learn how to ride a bike without training wheels. It is something that I have always been embarrassed about. By the time I realized I still had not learned this basic skill, I already had my driver’s permit and was driving around.
2. I used to pursue an acting career.
If you have seen my YouTube channel, then you may know that I have posted monologues on it for years. While I was in high school, memorizing monologues was the only thing I could do to dabble into the acting world. Recording the monologues and posting them made it easy for me to critique myself and open myself up to criticism from others. The career never did work out for me, but I loved the opportunities I was given to be on a set.
3. I took dance classes because of Dancing with the Stars.
The summer before my Freshman year of high school, Willow Shields was on the show Dancing with the Stars. As a huge The Hunger Games fan, I tuned in and was immediately hooked. It just so happened that my new high school offered dance classes for free during the school day. Though I nearly got cold feet and dropped out the week before school, I stuck it out and could not be happier. The worst part about graduating was leaving those classes behind me.
4. I wrote a book.
Writing has always been one of my passions. This year I made it a goal to turn one of my ideas into a full fledged book. It took about a month, but I got through it and can now check it off of my bucket list. I wish I knew earlier that the actual writing part would be the easiest step. Who knew the publishing process was so difficult? There are literary agents, open submission publishers, and even self-publishing options to look into. Since beginning my research into this process, my head has not stopped hurting. If you have any advice for me, please leave it down in the comments below! I would greatly appreciate it.
5. I have never been on a plane.
Flying is something else that has been on my bucket list, but I have not had the luxury of checking it off yet. The first thing that holds me back is deciding on where to go. If I am going to invest money into a bucket list experience, I want it to be worth it. Honestly the part that stresses me out the most is the thought of going through those security checks and racing to get to the plane on time. I feel like it would be just my luck to get lost in the airport or something. I think it goes without saying that traveling alone is not one of my hobbies.
6. I have considered starting a YouTube channel for years.
I have my YouTube account for my monologues, but I have wanted to start posting traditional YouTube content since I was in Middle School. Fear of judgement has held me back from just jumping in. I have considered posting gameplay or lifestyle content, but I am always worried about myself myself out into the world. Who knows— maybe YouTube will be my next bucket list item to tackle.
7. I started this blog because of a college administrator.
When I was touring colleges the summer before my Junior year, a college administrator at my dream school was talking to me about my writing aspirations. He was the one who referred me to WordPress specifically and encouraged me to rip off the band aid and just start writing. He was an incredibly nice man and I wish I could thank him again for his advice.
8. My travel bucket list consists primarily of film locations.
As I mentioned before, I used to actively pursue an acting career. I have wanted to go to Georgia to see The Walking Dead set. If I could only see one film location, it would be The Hunger Games. That series was such a big part of my growing up and I want so badly to see where it was actually created.
9. I love reading.
Reading has been the most consistent hobby in my life. My favorite book series is The Hunger Games, which probably isn’t much of a surprise to hear by now. My favorite stand-alone book is The Da-Vinci Code. Junie B. Jones deserves a bit of credit too, however, for sparking my obsession.
10. My favorite TV show is Gilmore Girls.
Gilmore Girls is one of those shows that I could watch over and over again and never get sick of it. The characters are entertaining, the story itself is light-hearted and easy to settle down with. It’s crazy to think that this series was created before I was even born.
So that’s me! I hope this post wasn’t too weird. Thanks for reading!
