“Brighter Days” Poem

Brighter Days

By Ashley O’Hare

The birds are chirping,

the sun is high.

Maybe I was wrong;

maybe mom was right.

A cold downpour

will fade away.

The sky above my head

won’t stay steel gray.

This knot in my chest

will soon come undone.

Soon I’ll face my fears

rather than turn and run.
