Moved On
By Ashley O’Hare
Long summer nights
don’t feel the same
without you here
playing random games.
Sitting under the moonlight
playing truth or dare,
would you rather,
and braiding each other’s hair.
I never saw the impending fights
about the brown-eyed boy,
the world, our grades—
rants I never enjoyed.
No matter how I tried to make it right,
I could not do much with a burned bridge
or with one-sided effort.
Leaving took all of my courage.
I needed you out of my sight
so I could move on with my life.
