A Problem For Future Me
By Ashley O’Hare
I create list after list
of things I wish to accomplish,
but when the time comes to take action
my spirit is thoroughly demolished.
The questions return to plague my mind:
What will I do if things turn south?
What if my future self becomes unkind?
Will I have to embark on the next journey alone?
My brain has not known peace
since the turn of the century.
The doubts and dread have always been here
beside the harsh regrets and crippling fear.
So I will make another list
to have something to do
and I will leave the action for future me
because present me has no clue.
