8 Things To Do On A Rainy Day

Having productive days are important and can be very satisfying, but there is something so special about having the occasional lazy day when it is raining. The pitter patter of the rain on your roof, the chill in the air— it is all so calming a snuggly. Here are 8 things you can do to make the most out of a rainy (or snow) day.

1. Read

Reading is my go-to lazy day activity. Getting lost in a new story is relaxing on its own, but is elevated on these days. Snuggle up on the couch with a blanket and a snack and have some time to yourself.

2. Catch up on a TV show

On a rainy day, you can find me rewatching The Office or Gilmore Girls for the millionth time. When I decide that I can have a lazy day at home, it is easy for me to justify lying in bed and watching a few episodes.  If I have some cleaning to do around the house, these shows are great to have on in the background since I already know what is going to happen and won’t be worried about missing anything.

3. Make a hot beverage

Whether you prefer tea, coffee, or hot chocolate, treat yourself to a hot drink to keep yourself warm. My favorite tea for days like this is peppermint tea.

4. Take an online course

Since I can be a penny pincher, I like to watch seminars on YouTube since it does not cost me anything. There are other resources, like Skillshare and Google, available. There are endless lessons on anything you could be interested in, like photography, marketing, and filmmaking.

5. Catch up with friends

If you’re like me, you get caught up in your day to day life and let text conversations drop. Take your new free time to catch up and check in with your friends. Though texting is convenient, I always prefer to call or FaceTime people whenever possible.

6. Try a new recipe

YouTube and TikTok are filled with easy to follow recipes for any time of the day. Find one that you can make with the ingredients already in your kitchen, turn on some music, and try it out.

7. Take pictures outside

This works particularly well when it is snowing, but you can get some cool photographs in the rain as well.

8. Try an at-home workout

YouTube is a great source of at-home workouts as well. There are videos for different skill levels, equipment requirements, and time frames. You can also find a game that will get your body moving if you have a Wii, XBox Kinect, a Nintendo Switch, etc.

These are some of my favorite things to do on rainy days— what are yours? Let me know in the comments below!
