Autumn
By Ashley O’Hare
Crunchy fallen leaves.
A piping mug of cider.
A candy corn stomach ache.
Ample apples littering the orchard floor—
My little slice of heaven.
Warm sweater hugs.
Travel cups of hot chocolate.
Let’s turn on Charlie Brown
And sit on the plush carpet.
Puppies in costumes.
Glowing pumpkins on the driveway
Idyllically illuminating the path
To the front door for treats.
The one time of year
When we expect to be tricked.
We leave the house with guards up
Only to be presented with lollipops.
