Books I Read in May 2022
In the month of May, I added 4 new books to my goal, bringing me to a total of 26 books so far this year.
Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman
If you are a Marvel fan, you will love this book. It gets into the myths of Thor, Loki, and Odin. Being a fan of the Thor movies in particular, it was fun to read about these characters without the other Avengers around. This is a light read that is perfect for the summer.
Proof by David Auburn
Since the only plays I have read are written by Shakespeare, I wanted to find a different one. Proof was a truly fascinating play. If you enjoy math and mysteries, I would recommend giving this play a shot.
The Awakening by Nora Roberts
This is the first book of The Dragon Heart Legacy series. If you enjoy books with a slower pace, this is for you. Personally I prefer books that have less filler. Though it was nice to get to know the characters in depth, this book took a lot of patience. There were a couple of intimate scenes that I was not anticipating and had a difficult time finding the purpose in the grand scheme of the story. All in all, Nora Roberts is a phenomenal writer. If you enjoy fantasy books with a bit of romance, this series will be a good choice for you.
Winter’s Bone by Daniel Woodrell
I have read Winter’s Bone once before and enjoyed the story. It is fun to read a book with a different dialect. If you enjoyed To Kill a Mockingbird, I think you will like this book as well. This book came on my radar because of the film adaptation starring Jennifer Lawrence, so you can compare the film to the novel when you are finished reading.
