“Making Wishes Come True” Poem of the Day (2022)

Making Wishes Come True

By Ashley O’Hare

Naive wishes on stars,

eyelashes,

and dandelions;

hoping beyond reason

to leave my mark

before facing oblivion.

Maybe one day

I will stick to my identity

and stop being a chameleon.

Gaining acceptance

is not worth my loss of self,

so I will hop off the band wagon.

I will uncover my mirrors

and smile through the pain

like positivity is going out of fashion.
