“Rainy Days” Poem of the Day (2022)

Rainy Days

By Ashley O’Hare

Rainy days

have always been my favorite.

Perfect for a good book,

comfy clothes,

and a snuggly blanket.

Too much of anything, however,

is a recipe for disaster.

One gust of wind

takes a peaceful Sunday

and transforms it into

a distructive hurricane.

Now I spend my rainy days

stowed away in the basement,

ready for the end of the world,

waiting for the alarm bells.

This time I will be ready.

This time I will survive.

This time I will save my heart.

This time I will save my mind.
