10 Things to Buy for a New Apartment / House
- Swiffer
For under $30 dollars you can get a Swiffer WetJet starter kit for your home. Swiffers are compact and easy to use mops that are handy to have around when you are cleaning up your new home.
- Shark Vacuum
Any vacuum is good to have around for an initial deep cleaning and routine maintenance of your home. My personal favorite is the Shark Rocket due to its light weight and long cord. They sell for about $150 and are definitely worth the investment.
- Clorox Wipes
These wipes are so convenient and will give you peace of mind as you transition into your new home.
- Broom
I have a $10 broom from Walmart and it works perfectly fine for everyday use.
- Mr. Clean Erasers
For deep cleaning, these erasers truly are magic.
- Coffee Maker
If you enjoy hot beverages like coffee, tea, or hot chocolate, do not forget to pick up a coffee maker to make your house more cozy.
- iHome
Any portable speaker will be nice to have around so you can listen to music and make cleaning more fun. I invested in an iHome because it is a BlueTooth speaker, nightlight, and digital clock all in one.
- Light Bulbs
Don’t underestimate how many light bulbs you may need. You never know how long it has been since the current bulbs have been changed, so it is nice to have a few spares for when those bulbs blow.
- Toaster
When you are first getting settled, a toaster is extremely nice to have. You can make toast, waffles, toaster pastries, etc in a pinch.
- Bookshelves
Bookshelves are perfect for keeping your living space organized and clean. Walmart has bookshelves in various sizes and colors that are very affordable.
