“Dreaming Out Loud” Poem of the Day (2022)

Dreaming Out Loud

By Ashley O’Hare

Down by the river

through the thicket of trees

lays a thousand flowers

and a hundred happy bees.

Two high school sweethearts

sat under the clouds

praying for peace;

dreaming out loud.

They sat through the summer,

visited through the fall;

sporadically checking if dreams

could come true and save us all.

Without any evidence,

they held on to hope.

They kept on climbing

to the end of the rope.
