Summary:
This sequel to If I Stay picks up three years after the tragic car accident that resulted in the devastating loss of Mia Hall’s parents and younger brother, Teddy. Where She Went is told from Adam Wilde’s point of view, Mia’s now ex-boyfriend. The story catches up on both of their music careers; Adam with his band and Mia the effects of going to Juilliard. Their paths collide in New York one night, giving them the opportunity to either get some closure or come back together.
My Thoughts:
I’m glad I finally read this book. Somehow Gayle Forman made me love and appreciate the main characters even more in this sequel. It is hard to find books that take place with the characters in their late teens to early twenties, so this had a very fresh feel to it. Seeing the world through Adam’s point of view while he is thrown into extreme in the midst of heartache was captivating. It’s a shame this book was not adapted into a movie like If I Stay— I think it could have been a fantastic summer movie.
This series is one that I highly recommend to anyone 14 and up. There are subtle mentions of sexual experiences as well as drugs, but it is nothing graphic.
