“Blue Moon” Poem of the Day (2022)

Blue Moon

By Ashley O’Hare

It happens once in a blue moon;

you get to smile

and truly forget the world.

For a brief moment

all is well.

For a fraction of a second

you cannot imagine being anywhere else.

Then the hurricane shifts—

you’re no longer in the eye.

Fact and fantasy collide

in the depths of your mind;

impossible to tell apart

and we will never understand why.

So cherish your blue moonlit night.

Life is not consistently kind.
