10 Best Movies to Watch on Tubi Now for Free

Want to watch movies without a monthly charge? Tubi is a streaming service that is completely free. You need to create an account with an email to use the app, but it is not necessary on the website. They change out their available shows / movies frequently, so it stays fresh. Here are my top 10 picks available on the app / website now:

  1. Coraline

As we approach the end of summer, you can feel Halloween creeping around the corner. This 2009 animated movie is the perfect introduction to the autumn season. The story follows a little girl, Coraline, who finds a secret passage to another world within her house. It’s a fun adventure with amazing visuals.

  1. The Color Purple

A classic from 1985. This movie stars Whoopi Goldberg and is based on the novel of the same name. The story follows Celie, a teenage African-American girl living in the southern United States in the 1900s. This is an eye-opening movie that will hit your heart about life in that time period.

  1. The Forger

This 2018 movie stars Josh Hutcherson, Alfred Molina, and Hayden Panettiere. Josh Hutcherson plays a teenage boy, Joshua, who is a talented artist and barely scraping by. He is introduced to a man that commissions him for forged artwork, pushing him into an art forgery scheme.

  1. Carrie

Based on the Stephen King novel of the same name, both the 1976 and the 2002 versions of this movie are available on Tubi. If you are in the mood for a horror, this is the film for you. Carrie is a teenage girl who has telekinetic powers and uses them to get revenge on her peers.

  1. Paul Blart: Mall Cop

The 2009 Kevin James movie is a favorite from my childhood. It is a goofy movie about a mall cop, who takes his job very seriously, taking on a group of skaters try to rob the mall. The movie includes themes of family, adding depth to Paul Blart as a character. It’s lighthearted fun, perfect for summer.

  1. Searching

This is a film that reminds viewers that movies are art. The movie takes place entirely from a computer screen. The creativity utilized in this movie is outstanding. The movie follows a now single father searching for his missing teenage daughter. If you are a true crime fan, this is a movie for you.

  1. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

This 2005 film starring Johnny Depp is a family favorite. Based on the book by Roald Dahl, the story follows a young boy winning a tour of a candy factory. This fun movie is perfect for unwinding after a long week.

  1. Super Size Me

If your health teacher did not show your class this documentary in school, you should watch it. The movie follows Morgan Spurlock as he embarks on a month long journey of eating fast food- primarily ordering off of the McDonalds menu. There is also a sequel also available on Tube if you are interested.

  1. Jaws (Series)

The Jaws series is a classic and needs little explanation. If you have been wanting to watch the series for the first time or take a trip down memory lane, now is the time to do it. As of today (August 8) the movies are in the “Leaving Soon” section of the website.

  1. Annie

Both the original 1982 and the remade 2014 versions of this movie are now available on Tubi. You can watch both to compare and contrast the films if you like. Annie is a movie musical following a young girl, Annie, who is an orphan holding on to hope for a forever home and happier tomorrow.
