iHome Zenergy Review
Earlier this year, I treated myself to a new iHome for my birthday. My old one still works, but it has a charging dock for my iPod that has a different port than my current phone. While looking for an upgrade, I came across the iHome Zenergy. It had everything I was looking for from a Bluetooth speaker, to a color changing light, and even white noise / meditation sounds.
The speaker is perfect for what I was looking for. I enjoy listening to music in the background when I am reading or cleaning up. This speaker is loud enough to be heard all throughout my room- even with the faucet or the vacuum on. The Bluetooth is easy to pair to my phone. All you have to do is press the button with the Bluetooth icon on the speaker and you are good to go!
It was a pleasant surprise to find that this speaker comes with over 10 relaxing sounds. The second option is a guided meditation with breathing exercises. There is everything you could hope for from basic white noise, to ocean waves, birds, and even wind chimes.
The alarm function was the biggest selling point for me. You can wake up to the sound of birds, which is nice, but this alarm has an even more unique function. You can wake up to a rising sunset. The light will begin dim a few minutes before the time you set and progressively gets brighter to wake you up. I particularly loved using this in the winter when it was darker in the mornings and I was lacking the motivation to crawl out of bed. This iHome also comes with a battery so that, in the event of a power outage, your alarm will still go off.
The soft lights add a cozy feel to your bedroom. I like to use it at night for a reading light before bed. Sometimes if I am having a hard time falling asleep, I will dim the light and keep it on as a night light.
A very convenient function of this iHome is the USB port on the back. I can plug my phone charger in and charge my phone on my nightstand while I sleep.
I had read some reviews online complaining that this iHome works for a month before the buttons stop working. I was surprised to find that this actually ended up happening to my speaker as well. Luckily, there is an easy solution to try. In my case, the backup battery died. Since the device plugs into the wall, I had completely forgotten about the battery. You can replace the battery if you like having the peace of mind, but I just took mine out and left it empty. I have not run into any problems since.
I bought this product months ago for around $70 at Kohls. They are now having a sale on this iHome that brings it down to $50. If you are in the market for a new speaker and alarm, I highly recommend this iHome.
