“My Confidence”
By Ashley O’Hare
Those girls have such steady hands-
they apply make up like an artist.
I could never look like that,
even when I try my hardest.
The imperfections on my skin
refuse to be hidden.
My confidence has quickly diminished;
feeling good is strictly forbidden.
Maybe if my wallet
was lined with some extra cash,
I could afford a mirror
that is not as brash.
When self confidence goes on sale,
I will be waiting at my door for the mail.
Until then, I’ll shut my eyes
and look for beauty inside.
