My Top 10 Favorite James Arthur Songs
James Arthur has been one of my favorite artists since I discovered his music in middle school. His music is on the same level as Taylor Swift for me. I love feeling transported by his music and the way he can tell stories. Here are 10 of my favorites songs that James Arthur sings.
- Impossible – Album: James Arthur (2013)
This song is actually a cover of the single originally performed by the artist, Shontelle in 2010. James Arthur covered this song on The X factor. When he won his season in 2012, he released his version of the song as his winner’s single. This was the very first song of his that I came across. I have listened to this single hundreds of times over the years and I never get tired of it.
- September – Album: It’ll All Make Sense In The End (2021)
James Arthur’s songs always have a unique beat. I love how this song feels emotionally charged and heartfelt while the rhythm keeps it upbeat and positive.
- Train Wreck – Album: Back from the Edge (2016)
I pity anybody who may ever hear my attempt at replicating the high note at the end of this song. This is a song I tend to listen to when I am writing an emotional scene. There is something about the tone that makes it easy to imagine overwhelming pain.
- Car’s Outside – Album: You (2019)
I was surprised to first hear this song on TikTok earlier this year. I was scrolling through the app when I kept coming across the audio. The song got stuck in my head, so I had to go searching for the whole song. It has been on my playlist ever since.
- Say You Won’t Let Go – Album: Back from the Edge (2016)
This song makes me want to pick up my guitar every time I hear it. The simplicity of the acoustic style adds natural beauty to the song. Though this is a song that has been played the most on the radio through the years, it is still amazing.
- Certain Things – Album: James Arthur (2013)
This song also features the musical group Chasing Grace. The lyrics used in this song are simple, but that’s part of what makes it so emotional and relatable.
- Safe Inside – Album: Back from the Edge (2016)
Safe Inside reminds me of unconditional love. The song is a reminder that romantic love is not the only type of love in the world. Loving a family member, especially one you have watched grow up, is a powerful kind of love.
- You – Album: You (2019)
This song is different from most of James Arthur’s songs, but it is one of his more motivating. You features Travis Barker. Though I am usually not a fan of rap, this song is one of the few exemptions I make on my playlist.
- Recovery – Album: James Arthur (2013)
Recovery is one of Arthur’s most painful songs to listen to. If you are going through a hardship, you will find yourself relating heavily to the lyrics.
- Rewrite the Stars – Album: The Greatest Showman: Reimagined (2018)
This popular song from the movie The Greatest Showman was originally performed by Zac Efron and Zendaya. The James Arthur and Anne-Marie version feels smoother and angelic while the original has more grit and chemistry. Both versions are fantastic and I could not pick a favorite.
