“Lost Progress” Poem of the Day (2022)

“Lost Progress”

By Ashley O’Hare

A hundred days pass

and I have yet to make any progress.

In the race of life,

I’m sitting at dead last.

I wish there was someone to blame

besides the person in the mirror.

I wish I had the strength

to make a grand life change.

But opportunities come and go

and I wave them “goodbye.”

I can’t make myself chase them

Until I am whole.

The leads on my lost pieces

have sent me on wild goose chases.

I’d have better luck

ironing out my heart’s creases.
