“Autumn Can’t Leave”
By Ashley O’Hare
Crispy brown leaves
crunch under our feet
beneath a branching canopy.
The cool breeze styles your hair
as your smile appears
and I can’t help but stare.
For a moment time halts.
All that matters
is the approaching puppy’s paws.
Words are unnecessary.
Any issues can be forwarded to a secretary.
I don’t want to worry until February.
Any plans for the future
can be safely stored in the cooler.
Let’s just live in the now
for as long as the world allows.
