“Lost”
By Ashley O’Hare
I’m running on a treadmill;
Left foot, right.
I’ve gone nowhere
and I’ve lost my fight.
The deadline was set-
tomorrow night.
It’s impossible-
I’ll never get there in time.
Useless formulas
soak up crucial space in my mind.
I can find a brick’s force of gravity
but not the point of my life.
I’ve read the books,
I’ve heard the lectures-
they say I’m on a path,
but I’m not so sure.
I lost my light
six years back.
Now I am lost
without a map
in sight.
