“Chasing the Dream”

I chase my dreams faster
when I am asleep;
when my mind is off duty
and I cannot ask you to leave.
My gut is too strong
to be ignored,
but when it takes a day off,
nature is free to let fate take over.
I’m sorry-
you always came on too strong.
I didn’t have time to sort out
right from wrong.
These pestering butterflies
never let me think straight.
I never had enough time
to decide on the right path to take.
