My Comfort Books
Reading has been a hobby of mine for as long as I can remember. Diving into a good book was how I coped with any negativity in my life. There have been a handful of books that I have read time and time again over the years.
- The Hunger Games trilogy
Suzanne Collins’s The Hunger Games has never failed to be a great escape for me. Diving into the elaborate world of Panem and reading about my favorite characters makes me feel like I’m in middle school experiencing the story for the first time again.
- The Twilight Saga
Twilight gets a lot of hate, but I love the story. When life starts to feel stressful and out of control, reading about a small town filled with vampires and werewolves suddenly makes all of my problems trivial.
- The Fault in our Stars
This book still rips my heart out at the end, but the journey that Hazel and Augustus take together feels so hopeful and wholesome. Sometimes it is nice to have a good cry and let go of all the built up emotions.
- Percy Jackson series
The Percy Jackson and the Olympians series catapulted my love for reading. Reading that series brings back the same excitement I had when I was reading them for the first time in elementary school. Everything feels simpler and suddenly no task is unsolvable.
- Chaos Walking
I first read Chaos Walking in preparation to see the movie adaptation, but I fell in love with the book. It flows nicely and is a perfect summer read.
- The Great Gatsby
The Great Gatsby brings me back to high school in a nostalgic and pleasant way.
- Fahrenheit 451
Fahrenheit 451 was the first book I read in my dystopian fiction class. I enjoyed the writing style and the realistic dystopian plot.
- Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland
Alice in Wonderland was my favorite Disney movie when I was a little kid, so this book always hits my heart when I read it.
- Paper Towns
If I could capture the feeling of summer into a book, it would be Paper Towns.
