Books I Read in October 2022
At the beginning of the year, I set a goal to read 50 books over the course of the year. In October I read 4 more books, bringing my total to 46 books read so far. Here are the books I read this month:
- Animal Farm by George Orwell
After reading 1984, I was excited to find Animal Farm in a box of old books. This dystopian fable was entertaining and a quick read. This novella was on a reading list for one of my classes back in high school, but we never got around to it back then. It reminded me of a dark Charlotte’s Web in a way.
- American Sniper by Chris Kyle
American Sniper has been sitting on my bookshelf with a bookmark one hundred pages in for years now. I had to start over from the beginning because it had been too long since I last picked it up. This autobiography was fascinating, though hard to read sometimes due to the brutal honest details of war and life after serving.
- Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare
I read passages of Romeo and Juliet back in high school and watched the movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio (which is now on HBOMax.) However, reading it as an adult, it is far more tragic than I remember. Maybe it is because the idea of Juliet being 13 is more difficult to accept in my twenties than when I was a teenager.
- Much Ado About Nothing by William Shakespeare
I also read Much Ado About Nothing in high school and loved it. I have a book of every Shakespeare play, so I wanted to read it again without stressing over memorizing everything for a test.
