“My Prayers”

I don’t like to ask for a lot,
but lately God has been hearing from me.
I pray
that my face isn’t one you have forgot.
I pray
that you will be reunited with me.
This space between us
is driving me crazy.
Stored in the depths of my heart
is a light I have kept hidden
since we have been apart.
Without your warmth,
I no longer feel safe.
I have been focused on the necessities
rather than trying to be happy.
