“Human Eyes”
By Ashley O’Hare
These human eyes
were created dull.
The future cannot be seen–
we are blind to fate’s pull.
Try as we might,
dictating our life’s journey
is wasted effort;
as frivolous as directing
a paper airplane’s flight
during a hurricane.
The greatest aspects of life
would be rendered obsolete
if we developed perfect vision.
Love would lose magnitude
when its chemical structure is broken down.
Fear would cease to exist
if we knew all outcomes.
How utterly simple
our lives would be
if all could be seen.
