My Thoughts:
The Fault In Our Stars was huge in the early 2010s. The main characters are easy to root for. This novel makes it a point to not focus heavily on the characters’ diagnoses. Hazel, Augustus, and others in their support group are seen and treated as individuals. Readers know how their stories are statistically going to end, but there is so much light and hope in their lives.
Both the book and its movie adaptation ripped my heart out of my chest when I first discovered this story. A decade later, this book has the same effect. Knowing what the outcome will be does nothing to dull the pain as you turn the pages.
If you are in the mood for a good cry, this is the book for you. Nobody can complete The Fault In Our Stars with dry eyes.
