“Parameters of Life”

With what parameters
shall I judge my life?
Am I on the right track
because I hold an independent mind?
Am I far off course
because I am not yet a wife?
The art of living
has become far too complex.
It is not enough
to listen to my heart at this moment.
I need to constantly be looking forward,
predicting what will come next.
If you see me
with a frown upon my face,
know that I tried my best
to score high
on life’s great tests.
