“Time Travel”

If time travel was invented,
would you go back in time
to the day you met me?
Would you turn the other way
without a single word to say
and undo everything we became?
The rippling butterfly effect
could only leave me wrecked-
I don’t want to imagine
a life without you.
But if you wanted to know,
I would let you go
even if it meant I would be
forever alone.
I would rather face life on my own
than come face to face with your replacement.
