“The Right Time”
By Ashley O’Hare
The finest car
won’t get me very far
when there is an ocean
guarding my wildest dreams.
I wish I had
thought ahead
and taken those swimming lessons
more seriously.
The current may be strong;
The undertow may snag me,
but at least I would
have a fighting chance.
It’s the waiting
that does the killing.
Are my dreams
my natural calling?
Will I be in the right place
at the right time
to answer the phone?
