My 2022 Resolutions Results

At the beginning of the year, I set 10 resolutions for 2022. Setting resolutions is fun and it is easy to be optimistic, especially at the beginning of a brand new year. Now that we are approaching 2023, I realized I have not looked back on what my goals were for the year in months. Here’s how I did:

  1. Finish my book

At the beginning of the year, I had a rough draft of my first book completed. Over the year, I have rewritten and edited the entire book. This was a huge goal for me, so I am excited to mark this off as a success. I definitely had no idea what I was in for when I set this as a resolution a year ago.  

  1. Put myself out there

I have been working on my confidence this year. I think this is something I will be working on for years to come. Fortunately I feel more comfortable with making decision for myself, regardless of the opinions of others. Maybe next year I will focus more on expanding my comfort zone and getting rid of limiting beliefs. 

  1. Work on photography

Photography is something I have always loved as a hobby. Though I did take some pictures this year, I was not as intentional about learning my camera as I had hoped to be. This is definitely a resolution I will bump to 2023’s list. I would love to learn photoshop as well. 

  1. Blog weekly

It is crazy to think that at this time last year, I was not even posting once a week. Now I am posting every single day— twice on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. This is a resolution I am beyond excited to mark as completed. 

  1. Cook more often

Unfortunately this is another resolution that will be bumped to next years list. I did not cook as much as I wanted to— though I did experiment with some new smoothie recipes. 

  1. Be optimistic

Though I would mark this resolution as a success, I will also set it aside as a work in progress. I think this is a goal that can always get better as I grow and evolve. My mind, however, is more positive now than it has been in years and that is a fantastic feeling. Making decisions that are true to myself and leaning on my support system has helped a lot.

  1. Cut back on social media

At the beginning of the year, I could spend hours scrolling through TikTok. I can happily say I no longer have that problem now. Once I removed TikTok from my phone’s homescreen, I found that I never opened the app. When it wasn’t convenient or a force of habit, TikTok faded into oblivion. 

  1. Drive more

I drove more this year than I did last year, but I want to continue on that progress next year. I want to drive longer distances and become a more confident driver. 

  1. Celebrate the minor victories

This was a fun resolution to look back on. I started writing down my accomplishments and taking a moment to let it sink in. Whether it was eating a snack without checking the nutrition label, reading a book in a new genre, or staying consistent with my writing, I let myself feel happy and proud for a moment instead of brushing past it. 

  1. Learn a song on guitar

This goal I would count as a 50% success and a 50% failure. I did not learn a new song, but I did practice new chords and re-learned “The Hanging Tree” from The Hunger Games.
