“The Finer Things”
By Ashley O’Hare
A million roses,
A diamond ring–
none of it means anything
if you’re not with me.
I want to pick dandelions
with you in the park.
Leave the ring at the shop–
I would marry you with string
tied around my finger.
I have all the finer things
life has to offer
when you’re here.
In your presence
colors are bolder,
the sun shines brighter,
my heart is warmer.
There is nothing else
I could ask for.
