“Useless Memories” Poem of the Day (2023)

“Useless Memories”

By Ashley O’Hare

It’s sitting there

collecting dust on the floor–

the memories you gave me,

taunting my heart and soul.

There is nowhere to put it-

it holds no purpose now.

Its presence is a constant reminder

of a life that has come and gone.

There is no point

in staring at the past.

Sweeping it under the rug

never seems to last.

These memories have a way

of haunting my brain.

I wish I could donate them–

to simply give them away

and give them a new place to stay.

Far, far away.
