“Supply and Demand” Poem of the Day (2023)

“Supply and Demand”

By Ashley O’Hare

If perfect bodies

were sold at the store,

would it still hold the importance

as generations before?
Why does it matter

what lies on the outside?
Skin and hair mean nothing

if we are in a constant fight to survive.

A symmetrical face

does not equate

to a strong mind.

Beauty should not matter

when your life is on the line.

Unfortunately when money talks

beauty expectations cannot be stopped.

So we cover out imperfections

and secure it with a lock

with cosmetics

that will always be bought.
