It is not generosity
if it is given with expectations.
Don’t give me anything
so you can attach strings.
It is not love
if it lacks acceptance and respect.
A million romantic doves
cannot hide impure intentions.
Don’t take out a loan
to tempt me with money-
it chills me to the bone
that you think I would want it.
A life free of drama
is a dream come true.
I just want to let my guard down-
but it’s not safe with you.
