5 Things You Should Add to Your Morning Routine
Starting the day off on the right foot is incredibly important. Having a simple, but effective morning routine can help with productivity and energy. No matter what time your day starts, make it a good morning. Here are five simple ways to enhance your morning:
- 10 Minutes Without Your Phone
Upon waking up, resist the urge to immediately pick up your phone. Take ten minutes to yourself and allow your mind and body to wake up naturally. You can use this time to meditate, pray, journal, or read if you would like. These are great ways to start the day with a clear mind.
- Stretch
When you wake up, make it a priority to move your body. This can be a quick ab workout, a short walk, or even a simple five minute stretch. Put on some music and warm up your muscles. This will also help you shake off any lingering sleepiness from the night before.
- Drink Water
Water is crucial for every stage of your day. Hydration should always be a priority. Even if you are a person who likes your morning cup of coffee to get energy to start your day, incorporate water into your mornings. You can even drink your water while the coffee is brewing in your kitchen. If it helps, use a cute cup or ice cube molds to motivate you. You can even get fancy with it and infuse your water with some fresh fruit.
- Make Your Bed
Making your bed shortly after waking up is a cliché tip for a good reason. Having a simple task to complete so early in your day is a great way to get the ball rolling for the rest of your responsibilities. A made bed also eliminates some of the temptation to crawl back under the covers, especially during the frigid winter months. When a section of your bedroom is organized, it also gives you peace of mind and a sense of accomplishment.
- Make a To-Do List
In the morning, it is helpful to write down everything you need to get done throughout the day. This is a great way to ensure you will not forget an important task in the midst of your day’s chaos. This list can be written in your planner, a notebook, your phone, a whiteboard— whatever works best for you.
I hope these tips are helpful for you to incorporate into your day!
