Washing My Face With Hand Soap For The First Time

I Washed My Face With Dial Hand Soap — My Thoughts

After seeing the Dial Hand Soap trend go viral on TikTok and Instagram, I decided to give it a try. The new skincare trend was simple— replace your everyday face cleanser with Dial Hand Soap. I have struggled with acne since I was thirteen years old and I always have Dial soap on hand, so this seemed like the perfect trend for me.

Unfortunately it did not end up improving my skin.

Day one of trying this soap, I actually saw some quick improvements. A stubborn pimple on my chin had begun to fade and my face felt clean overall.

After a few days the progress came to a halt. I wasn’t breaking out, but my blemishes weren’t going anywhere.

After a week my skin took a turn for a worse. My face was suddenly very dry, particularly along my jaw. My face also started breaking out in small blemishes that were not normal for me.

After two weeks,  my skin was slowly getting worse. Dealing with dry skin in the middle of winter was uncomfortable to say the least. No matter how much moisturizer I applied, I couldn’t seem to get rid of the dryness.

I figured I had given the soap and solid try. Since my skin was only getting worse after two weeks, I switched my routine back to my Neutrogena Hydro Boost Facial Cleanser. Overnight, my skin began to slowly improve. After a week, it was back to normal.

Based on my results, I cannot recommend this trend. My skin is more on the oily side, so dry skin is not something I have struggled with on my face in years. It is not something I want to deal with again.

Have you tried washing your face with Dial Hand Soap? What were your results? Let me know in the comments below!

  1. I soap up my face. a mild scrub with the towel. rinse. and i add Cerave to my fast to keep it moist or it start to break out in dandruff. I had gotten pimples before when younger but I still have that dandruff problem. 🙂 hope this helps.
