“A Broken Heart”

There is a study that suggests

a person can die from heartbreak.

I’m not a scientist:

I’m not sure how it physically manifests,

but personal experiences

lead me to believe

that they are unfortunately right.

It feels like the organ

fighting to keep you alive

is too fragile for its job.

When the strings

are tugged just right,

I swear, it is going to pop

like a balloon-

regardless of any and all efforts

to put a stop

to the motion.
