“Luggage” Poem of the Day (2023)

“Luggage”

By Ashley O’Hare

Pack your luggage

of clothing and knick-knacks;

not of your memories and emotions.

Those need to be placed on a shelf

in direct line of sight-

preferably near a window

where they can photosynthesize.

If you desire to thrive

in this game of life,

make the most of your experiences-

learn all that you can.

It’s not always easy

to gaze into the past,

but the answers you’ll gain

open the door to new tracks.

You owe it to yourself

to fill your brain

of all you can obtain.
