“An Incomplete Story”
By Ashley O’Hare
The pictures hanging on my wall
tell a story of the fall
of the hopeful.
The abrupt loss
of innocence;
of common sense.
It’s all out in the open.
A few years
are missing from the log-
intentionally hidden in a fog.
They’re useless to me now-
it’s not sweat off my brow.
Those chapters
deserve to fade away-
to hop on a boat
and find a place to stay
where they can’t hurt anybody else
the same way.
